Sean Wolfington was recognized by legendary performer and 17-time Grammy winner Tony Bennett for his philanthropy and support of at-risk children through Exploring the Arts and Team Bryan during Bennett’s Benefit Gala on March 19th in Miami. Wolfington, an entrepreneur who has built and sold four technology companies by the age of 40, is also founder of the Wolfington Foundation, which he created to help change kids’ lives.

Sean and Ana Wolfington with Jon Hamm (Don Draper of Mad Men). He is an amazing actor and a great guy. We had a blast on the set while shooting “ A Christmas Waltz” (Season 5 Ep 10). We were dancing the “Christmas Waltz” while Don Draper (lead character played by Jon Hamm (and John chatted at the bar. It was an incredibly well run set and the scene only took about an hour to shoot. The equivalent on a typical film set would have been at least a day, if not more.

Facebook Aids Limited-Release Film’s Cinderella Story

Sony Pictures and Tier10 Marketing drove The Mighty Macs to become the top-grossing limited-release film last weekend, with a little help from Facebook and Rudy Ruettiger. The Mighty Macs is based on the true story of the 1971 to 1972 Immaculata College women’s basketball team, which barely made the first-ever championship tournament in their sport, and went on to win that trophy, as well as the next two, followed by appearances in the three championship games after that, marking six title-game berths in a row.

Shakira will let her fans help pick a different opening act for each city on her tour next year. The Colombian superstar will allow artists to upload videos of performances to her Web site when the “Opening Act” contest starts. Fans will vote for the finalists, and winners will be chosen by Shakira’s team. Sean Wolfington, her digital-business partner, told us, “The artists will open for Shakira live in big cities and virtually through a video performance in smaller markets. There are a lot of talented artists, and Shakira wants to help them by giving them part of her stage.”

Bella was also #1 rated movie by Yahoo, Fandango and the New York Times Readers’ Poll while in theaters. Alejandro Sanz made a song for the film and Tony Bennett presented the “Tony Bennett Media Excellence Award” to the filmmakers.

Miami is the “Gateway to Latin America,” so it is not surprising that the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) has grown into a premier event for Latin-inspired works.
